Rider Stu Flacks (USA) recently rode this trike to two silver medals at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics in Sydney. The course for the races was very technical, with many turns and hills. Stu has been training on the trike for a little over a year, putting in uncounted miles and hours in the saddle- in all kinds of weather. Congratulations, Stu!

ABOUT THE TRIKE
 
  This trike was developed and built specifically for Paralympic racing.It was designed to meet all CP racing rules and sized for Mr. Flacks. The entire trike is carbon fiber, including the wheels and fork. It includes a number of custom developed parts, including a unique driveshaft and even a Shimano STI integrated parking brake.

TerraCycle designed & manufactured adjustable hydraulic steering damper. Note it wraps around the headset, so it can pretty much fit any bike.

Specifications and Features

• Designed to meet Paralympic Racing Specifications (upright position, wheelbase, wheel size, braking, etc.)
• FitKit sized to customer, including custom shortened Dura Ace crank.
• Low BB and tucked up rear wheels for improved stability
• Full Carbon Fiber construction- frame, fork, and wheels. Main body is foam core, hollow rear section molded over polyethylene form
• Full Shimano Dura Ace component set, 18 speed STI
• Handlebars: Ritchey Logic Pro with ProFile AirStryke bar
• Hydraulic steering damper for high speed stability
• Cable Routing: internal. Polyetheylene tubing with Delrin fittings, GoreTex RideOn rear shift cable
• Weight, including aerobars: appx 29lbs
• Drive: single wheel drive (left rear) via tubular ChroMo shaft with custom cassette adapter and removable splined fitting to wheel. Two low friction shielded bearings, cantilevered cassette.
• Wheels: Spinergy RexV 650c with X-Beam lateral reinforcers
• Tires: Michelin Axial Pro Racing, 650c x 20mm
• Fork: Kinesis Carbon 3
• Front wheel dual braking system (single wheel redundant braking). Custom STI integrated parking brake
• CNC machined bearing and deraileur mounts
• SS breakaway rear deraileur hanger
• Paint: Customer spec Imron by Rad Finshes, Portland, OR. Pearlescent black with rough brush white fade and random paint splashes.
