Recycle your waste with the help of Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company

  • Sponsor logo

Every year, literally billions of cigarette butts end up in dumpsters and landfills, or get tossed as litter on shorelines, parks, and sidewalks across the US. With funding from Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, the waste collected through the Cigarette Waste Brigade is recycled into a variety of industrial products, such as plastic pallets, and any remaining tobacco is recycled as compost.

Additionally, for every pound of cigarette waste collected, Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company donates $1.00 towards the Keep America Beautiful Cigarette Litter Prevention Program.

Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company manufactures Natural American Spirit all-natural, 100% additive-free tobacco products and markets them only to smokers who are 21 years of age or older. If you or your participants do not smoke, or are under the age of 21, please visit our other Brigade programs to see how you can help the environment.

Collecting at Home Collecting at Home
  1. Continue to use your regular ash tray at home.
  2. Collect cigarette waste in a re-sealable plastic bag, disposable plastic container, plastic shopping bag, or garbage bag. Make sure that the cigarettes are fully extinguished. Do not dump your cigarette waste directly into box you plan to ship them in and do not use paper bags or envelopes to collect your waste.
  3. Ship your collections to TerraCycle by downloading a free shipping label from terracycle.com. Affix the label to your box and drop it off at a UPS location.
