About TerraCycle:
TerraCycle is a global leader in recycling and upcycling—turning difficult-to-recycle waste into affordable eco-friendly products. As a rapidly growing company with expanding logistics and operations, TerraCycle’s Operations Department is seeking motivated interns to join our dynamic team in our main office in Trenton, NJ, and become involved in a full range of projects that best represent our inner workings and operations. Graduates of the summer intern program will be eligible for select Fall Intern openings.
About the Internship:
The Operations Internship will run for 10 weeks and will allow each intern to gain valuable hands-on experience within the following areas that make up the department.
Learn the logistics behind TerraCycle’s extensive waste collection programs. Learn where the waste goes, how the waste is shipped and the costs involved. Work with managers to identify strategic improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Gain experience in the day to day operation of a world class business management system. Learn how SAP is used and how it improves the efficiency of the entire business. Work with managers to enter purchase orders, track goods and create sales orders. Assist with the creation of work orders and bills, as well as analyze data reports to manage budgets.
Help ensure that TerraCycle’s operations are compliant with all international, federal, state, and municipal regulations. Understand how the five operations – collection, transportation, storage, handling and disposal of waste is regulated. Work with managers to analyze TerraCycle’s expanding operations internationally and to ensure compliance is reached. Knowledge of foreign languages a plus.
Learn how TerraCycle monitors all of the waste it receives. Witness for yourself the millions of pounds of waste stored in our 100,000 ft2 warehouse. Work with managers to increase storage efficiency and inventory control. Work business to business to contact vendors and make sales for stored waste.
Because we strongly believe the value of an internship will reflect the level of commitment and time vested by the individual, the length of the internship can be customized and the department does not set minimum hours of work that interns must meet each week. We will offer college credit and recommendations upon successful completion of the internship; however, student interns seeking college credit must adhere to their educational institution’s internship requirements. The internship is unpaid but daily catered lunches will be provided. Other benefits include opportunities to attend and participate in open social events with all levels of TerraCycle’s executive and management teams.
Qualifications:
We seek individuals who can easily adapt to our fast-paced environment and show the necessary focus to complete projects in a short amount of time while maintaining the initiative and independence to complete other tasks that may not necessarily have rigid guidelines or a set deadline. Applicants must be enrolled in college or graduate school (all areas of study welcome), or have equivalent professional experience.
