Moving forward, the Australia Post Mailing Satchels Recycling Program will no longer be available through TerraCycle. You will now be able to recycle your mailing satchels through the soft plastics recycling program available at participating major supermarkets.

This map is constantly being updated

There is a growing network of public drop-off locations all around Australia, giving everyone the opportunity to drop off their waste for recycling. If your location would like to be considered to become one of our public drop-off points, you must fill in the Drop-off Application Form to begin the application process. One of the team will contact you should your application be successful.

How it works

Participating is completely free and very easy.

When you are ready to send in a shipment, download a shipping label from your TerraCycle account by clicking “Request a postage label” and follow the prompts. Print out your label and tape it securely onto your box. Ship the box to TerraCycle by dropping it off at your nearby post office.

What you can recycle in this program

Program accepted waste: Prepaid Mailing Satchels & Padded Mailing Satchels

To make recycling even easier, Australia Post's satchels now include the Australian Recycling Label (ARL), an easy-to-understand label that indicates the satchel's recyclability and helps you learn more about mailing satchel recycling. To find out more about the Australian Recycling Label, click here.

Best practices for recycling

In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. letters & mail).

What happens to the waste

Once collected, the mailing satchels are cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products. Click here for more information on the recycling process.

TerraCycle Points

TerraCycle points can be redeemed for a payment of $0.02 per unit received to the non-profit organisation or school of your choice.
