Saltash school recycling its way to the top

A Saltash school is hoping to bag itself new playground equipment as it encourages its community to recycle.

Brunel Primary and Nursery Academy is taking part in the Terracycling programme, which transforms waste that would otherwise be destined for landfill or incinerator into materials for new uses.

Through Terracycle, many more items can be recycled than via the traditional kerbside collection.

Since the organisation partnered up with Sistema, this includes takeaway food containers, tupperware boxes, baby bottles and drinks bottles of all brands – and it is these which Brunel School is asking parents and local residents to bring in.

A Saltash primary school is looking to the community to donate unwanted takeaway containers, baby bottles, tupperware and reusable plastic bottles. It is part of a scheme which could see the school win a brand new playground.

Kenilworth residents are raising money for youth wellbeing projects by collecting and recycling ‘hard-to-recycle’ items from the community.

ay Lau and other volunteers of the Recycle for Kenilworth group have signed up to 17 of TerraCycle’s free recycling programmes, such as the Philips dental care free recycling programme, the Marigold free recycling programme, the Taylors of Harrogate (coffee) free recycling programme, and others, to collect home and self-care related items and food packaging.
