Recycling in partnership with Febreze®
TerraCycle® has partnered with Febreze® to make air freshener aerosols recyclable nationwide.
We are excited to be able to offer you easy ways to recycle your aerosols – read on below!
The Febreze® Air Freshener Recycling Programme is run through public drop-off locations only.
More than 96% of local authorities recycle aerosols through kerbside collections or through recycling banks. Please visit your local council website to find out if you can recycle aerosols locally. If these options are not available to you, or you have more than 5 miles to reach the recycling bank, you can drop your aerosols off in one of our Febreze Air Freshener Recycling Programme drums, always making sure that your aerosols are empty first.
We are currently developing a network of Febreze® Air Freshener Recycling Programme public drop-off locations. If you are interested in setting up a public drop-off location for your community then please read our Requirements and Safety Instructions and fill out this form.
Please check here regularly for an update on public drop-off locations near you.
Please ensure air freshener aerosols are empty for storage and transportation.
Once collected the aerosols are taken to a licensed depot where any residual gases and liquids are removed. The aerosols are then broken down into smaller pieces and the plastic and metal components seperated. The plastic components are extracted for recycling and the metal components are smelted into ingots. These ingots are then rolled into aluminium sheets to create new products.
TerraCycle points can be redeemed by the administrator of the public drop-off location for a variety of charitable gifts or a payment to the charity organisation of their choice. 1 TerraCycle point is worth £0.01.
