Given the ongoing COVID-19 situation and everyone's safety, many of the endurance sports events have been put on hold. In the meantime, please be aware that you can still learn more about the programme and the accepted waste on this page.

How it works

Drop off your sports nutrition packaging at participating endurance sports events

Simply collect your sports nutrition packaging, take it to a participating endurance sport event and drop it off in the designated collection box. Before going to the event, please check the accepted waste in the section below. To find your nearest participating endurance sport event, please click here for the full list of events.
Please note: There are currently no endurance sport events planned but please check back in the future.

What you can recycle in this programme

Please check out our Accepted Waste Poster below for more details.

What happens to this waste

Once collected, your sports nutrition packaging is sorted, shredded and washed. The material is then densified into hard-granulated plastic granules. The granules are then extruded so they can be incorporated into the production of different plastic products such as benches.

HIGH5 have over 25 years of experience in providing sports nutrition and supporting hundreds of races and sporting events around the world. Currently, the packaging used for energy bars and gels across all brands cannot be widely recycled (a solution is being explored by all main wrapper suppliers). However, HIGH5 are committed to reduce their impact on the environment and are committed to eliminate single use packaging by 2025. They are proud of and excited by their partnership with TerraCycle® and its mission to reduce the number of HIGH5 wrappers that reach landfill each year.
