Once you’ve got a minimum of 1,000 TerraCycle® points in your account, you can redeem them as a monetary donation to a charity, school or non-profit of your choice. You can choose from the ones already registered, or add a new one! Adding a new charity is a straightforward process and all you need to do is send the completed registration form and bank details of your chosen charity to our Customer Support team. Then our team can review and approve it on our system (to make it eligible for donations).

How do I know if a charity is approved and if I can redeem points for it?

If you are looking to redeem points for a charity previously added to your account, please sign in and check its status by selecting the ‘My Charities’ tab. If your charity isn’t labelled ‘unapproved’ on your dashboard then you’re all set to start redeeming! If your charity is displaying as ‘unapproved’ in your account, please refer to the ‘What does it mean if a charity displays as ‘unapproved’?’ section of this page.

If you would like to add a new charity to your account from the charities which are already registered, please use the ‘search for a charity’ drop-down menu. You will be able to identify all ‘approved’ charities by the green tab next to their name. Simply add the charities you’re interested in to your account and then you can redeem your points. If you add a charity that displayed in the search without a green tab, this is because it is ‘unapproved’. Please refer to the ‘What does it mean if a charity displays as ‘unapproved’?’ section of this page. 

How can I redeem my points?

It’s simple, just follow the steps below.

  1. Click the ‘Redeem My Points’ button on your ‘My Charities’ dashboard, then choose from either a charitable gift or scroll to the bottom and redeem points for your chosen charity from the drop-down menu, then click ‘Redeem My Points’.  
  2. Decide how many points you’d like to donate on the shopping cart page. 
  3. ​Select ‘confirm’ and then you’ll receive an email from us to certify your points have been redeemed successfully!

What does it mean if a charity displays as ‘unapproved’?

If a charity’s status is displayed as ‘unapproved’ in the ‘My Charities’ tab of your account, you and any other collectors will be unable to redeem points for it. If it is displaying this way, it is due to one of these reasons:

  1. It was recently registered and we are still processing the information. This approval process takes approximately 2 working days, so check back and follow step 2 if it’s still ‘unapproved’. 
  2. We don’t have the correct bank details for your chosen charity, so you’ll need to send them using this form and attach it in an email to customersupport@terracycle.co.uk.

Why is the charity I have chosen still displaying as ‘unapproved’ in my account even though I’ve submitted all the details?

If there are any issues with the bank details you have submitted, our Customer Support team will contact you directly and iron out any problems. If you have submitted the details recently, please wait at least 2 working days for us to process your request.

How do I register a new charity?

If the organisation you’d like to donate to isn’t appearing in the ‘Search For A Charity’ drop-down menu, you can add your own by following these steps:

  1. Click here to fill in the registration form.
  2. ​Send us the bank details using this form and attach it in an email to customersupport@terracycle.co.uk.

It’s worth noting that if the information on the registration form is missing, you will be contacted by our Customer Support team to provide these details. However, if you do not provide the charity’s bank details, your organisation’s status will remain ‘unapproved’, and it won’t be eligible for points. If you are registering a school, please provide a contact person for the school (with their prior consent). If you are registering a charity, there is the option to provide the charity number but this is not mandatory. 

Can I redeem my points for a charitable gift?

How can I add multiple charities to my shopping cart?

You can donate to as many charities as you like! When you get to the Shopping Cart page, go back to the previous page and select another from the drop-down menu (you’ll see it appear in the Shopping Cart when you click ‘Redeem My Points’).
