Please note that plastic bottles are recyclable in almost all UK council recycling systems. Our programme does accept plastic bottles, however as these are widely recyclable, we ask that you only send us bottles if it is not possible to recycle them via your local council system. Always remember to remove the labels on the bottles and recycle them with TerraCycle. Click here for a complete overview of the beauty products packaging you can recycle through TerraCycle and what you can recycle locally.  

*A note on aerosol containers

At this time aerosols are not accepted as part of the recycling programme. We are exploring with TerraCycle the potential for their inclusion in the future, however the good news is that in most parts of the UK, aerosol recycling is possible. More than 96% of local authorities recycle aerosols through kerbside collections. Please visit your local council website to find out how you can recycle aerosols locally. Always make sure your aerosols are empty and recycle the aerosol lids separately.

There is no minimum shipment on the Personal Care and Beauty Recycling Programme, which means you will receive TerraCycle points for all the personal care and beauty waste you send in regardless of the size of the shipment. You can send in up to 70 kg of personal and beauty care packaging using our standard pre-paid label. Remember, the bigger the packages the better as it is better for the environment if you send fewer larger parcels.

We recommend using any old cardboard box – which can be obtained from your local supermarket or home deliveries. You can download standard pre-paid Royal Mail postage labels by following the instructions below:

  1. Sign into your account using your registered user name and password
  2. Click on "MY ACCOUNT" at the top right hand side of the homepage
  3. Click on "SEND US YOUR WASTE"
  4. Underneath the Personal Care and Beauty Recycling Programme select "GET SHIPPING LABEL"
  5. Select “print” in your file menu and print directly to your printer
  6. Securely attach your freepost label to the box and order a pick-up via UPS by calling +353 1 52 45446, and UPS will collect at your location.

Please note, if you don't have immediate access to a printer you can print your labels at a later time as the label is also emailed to you

No, all shipping is free! You will be able to print freepost shipping labels from our website through your online account. This will bring your Product Care and Beauty product packaging collections back to our factory to be recycled into other TerraCycle products. You win, we win, and the environment wins!

Yes. You can select or change the charity through the TerraCycle website. Simply log into your account at and click on "MY ACCOUNT". Then select the "MY CHARITIES" tab through your profile and select “Add new charity” to fill out all necessary charity information. Please note: Whichever charity you have listed on your account on April 30th and October 31st will be the beneficiary of the funds earned on your account. You can also call 0800 0470 984 or email our Customer Support Team with the charity name, address, contact person and the registered charity number.

Charity cheques are mailed DIRECTLY to the designated charity, not to the individual contact. Charities will receive a cheque in June for collections received between 1st November 1st - 30th April. Charities will receive a cheque in December for collections received between 1st May – 31st October.

We accept any size shipment on the Personal Care and Beauty Recycling Programme, and there is no minimum shipment size on this programme. This means you will receive 2 points per item sent in regardless of shipment size. You can redeem your points at any time towards a variety of charitable gifts or a cash donation (cheque) to any UK based non-profit or charitable organisation, including schools. Please keep in mind that there is a minimum of 1,000 points or £10 needed for a cash donation. Cash donations are mailed directly to the charity, twice a year in June and December. All cash donations requested between 1st May and 31st October will be sent out in December. All cash donations requested between 1st November and 30th April will be sent out in June.

We establish an average weight for each waste stream (personal care and beauty products, baby food pouches, biscuit wrappers,etc.) collected through a programme and weigh packages when we receive them at our warehouse. Your account will be credited based on the weight of the package sent in and weighed at TerraCycle facilities, not individually counted units. We accept any size shipment on the Personal Care and Beauty Recycling Programme, and all shipments will be credited with points regardless of the shipment size.

TerraCycle credits your shipment by dividing its weight by the average weight of the material sent in on the Air and Home Care Recycling Programme (the average weight is 31.7g) to determine the number of units you are credited with. For each 31.7g of weight within your shipment you earn 2 TerraCycle points. Each TerraCycle point can be redeemed for a payment of £0.01 to the UK based charity or school of your choice.

Yes. In the Personal Care and Beauty Recycling Programme you need to send back a shipment within 12 months of your registration, and if you are inactive for a 12 month period during any other time you will be removed to enable someone that is on the waiting list and wants to participate to join.

Please log into your account on the TerraCycle website. Select the “MY ACCOUNT” tab and then “RECYCLING PROGRAMMES“ and you will see a grey X to the right of each programme.
