School helps reduce landfill waste

CHARLOTTE – Oaklawn Language Academy is keeping snack pouches out of landfills. Through a free recycling program in partnership with TerraCycle and sponsored by Entenmann’s Little Bites, Oaklawn has helped the nationwide collection reach the milestone of 2.5 million snack pouches diverted from the waste stream. Along with keeping the pouches out of landfills, collectors earn points that can be redeemed for cash donations to the nonprofit or school of the collector’s choice. Donations have just passed $40,000.
