Dozens of these 'butt bins' will be installed around downtown Louisville

The new "butt bin" program aims to reduce the number of cigarette butts discarded on downtown streets and sidewalks.

The the Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP) is partnering with TerraCycle, a leading company in recycling challenging materials, to recycle the disposed cigarette filters. Often what happens when people drop their cigarette butts is the toxic, plastic cigarette filters get swept from the streets and sidewalks into our sewer system where they pollute our environment.

Cigarette butts will be collected from the receptacles on a monthly basis by the LDP Ambassador team.

What to do with leftover Halloween candy? Some solutions available in Massachusetts

Spooky season is officially over and many people are wondering what to do with all their leftover Halloween candy. In Massachusetts, there's several solutions for both the extra sweets and the wrappers. 

If you've already eaten all your Halloween candy, you can do something with all the wrappers instead of throwing them out. Trove Green Provisions in Medford will be collecting candy wrappers and sending them to TerraCycle for recycling.
