New Jersey PetSmart Stores Introduce Free Recycling Program

It's a new in-store recycling program at PetSmart locations throughout New Jersey where they're teaming up with Terracyle to help cut down on pet product waste.

The pet industry generates millions of pounds of waste in the United States each year, much of which is not accepted by curbside recycling programs, according to the report. 

As part of this new pilot program, you'll find recyclable bins in select New Jersey stores for you to drop off your empty pet food bags.

PetSmart Launches In-Store Recycling Program with TerraCycle®

As part of its efforts to expand consumer access to sustainable products and programs, PetSmart is partnering with TerraCycle®, the international leader in recycling hard-to-recycle materials, to launch an in-store recycling program for all brands of empty pet food, treat and cat litter bags made from flexible plastic. The PetSmart Pet Food & Treat Bags Free Recycling Program is now in 100 PetSmart stores across Arizona and New Jersey. The recycling initiative makes it easier for pet parents to embrace sustainable practices, keeping common waste packaging out of the landfill.
