Schick and Skintimate, two shave care brands from Edgewell Personal Care, have introduced a free, nationwide recycling program in partnership with TerraCycle that makes it easy for consumers in the continental United States to recycle disposable razors and their plastic packaging. Disposable razors are made from a mix of metal and plastic that most local recycling systems cannot process, leaving many of these items to end up in landfills or incinerators. Through the program individuals, households, schools, and community groups can sign up online, download a prepaid shipping label, collect used razors and packaging in a secure box, and send them to TerraCycle for recycling. The plastics are processed into pellets used in products like park benches and picnic tables, and the metals are smelted into base materials for industrial uses, helping keep these hard‑to‑recycle materials in use and out of waste streams.

Running events generate a surprising amount of waste, from single-use snack wrappers to hydration gel pouches. These materials are often difficult to recycle through traditional curbside systems and can end up in landfills. TerraCycle offers recycling solutions for snack wrappers and hydration gel pouches, keeping these hard-to-recycle materials in use and out of landfills. By diverting these items from disposal, it helps reduce the environmental impact of disposable packaging and supports a more sustainable approach to single-use materials.

TerraCycle and D’Addario are celebrating ten years of the Playback Free String Recycling Program, the first large-scale initiative to recycle instrument strings of any brand. Since 2015 the partnership has kept more than 16 million strings out of landfills by giving musicians, retailers, and schools a free and easy way to send in used strings and clippings for recycling through TerraCycle’s platform. Once collected, the metal from the strings is melted into new alloys and repurposed into new products, showing how creative industries and innovative recycling solutions can help eliminate waste and make sustainability part of music culture.
