Airports generate significant cigarette litter, but TerraCycle has developed a way to recycle cigarette butts into products like outdoor furniture and tool handles. Newark Liberty International Airport will launch the program this summer, joining eight other U.S. airports working to keep this waste out of waterways.

The Town of Ashland selected TerraCycle’s recycled art concept to anchor the Fall Line Trailhead. Made from plastic and lumber collected through TerraCycle programs, the installation features a monolith, mosaic, reused bike wheels and a bench—all symbolizing community pride and circular design. Slated for completion by October 2025, it will welcome visitors while showcasing local sustainability.
