Nourish your Hair and Protect the Planet.
TerraCycle® and Hair Food have partnered to create a national recycling program for all non-aerosol Hair Food packaging.
So while you take care of your hair, you can also take care of the planet!
Participating is simple and free.
Sign up for the program. If you don’t have a TerraCycle account yet, create one here!
Once in the program, start collecting non-aerosol Hair Food packaging in any box you have.
When your collection box is full, log into your account to download and print a shipping label.
Seal up your collection box, affix the printed shipping label onto it. Send via UPS.
All non-aerosol Hair Food hair care packaging including Hair Food shampoo and conditioner bottles, flexible plastic packaging such as hair masks, flexible plastic tubes, and complex closures
NOTE: Please check for local recycling solutions for #1 and #2 plastics. If no recycling solution exists in your area, you can include this packaging in your shipments through this program.
We encourage you to ship when your box is full of Hair Food packaging to minimize the transportation carbon footprint for this program. You don’t need to clean the packaging before sending it to TerraCycle, but please remove as much of the remaining product as possible. UPS will not accept dripping packages, so please make sure your items are dry.
Once collected, the non-aerosol Hair Food packaging is cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products, such as park benches and picnic tables. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.
Shipments in the Hair Food Recycling Program can be any weight to earn points, and 100 points per pound will be awarded.
Awarded TerraCycle points can be allocated toward a variety of charitable gifts or redeemed as a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice. Each piece of Hair Food packaging sent in will earn approximately 7 TerraCycle points and will be counted based on an average unit weight of 0.07 pounds.
