ARM & HAMMER™ makes it simple to recycle with TerraCycle!

Can toothpaste tubes and
laundry pouches actually be recycled?

Yes! These items aren’t typically accepted by curbside services because traditional recyclers can’t make a profit recycling the materials. That’s why TerraCycle and ARM & HAMMER™ have teamed up to create a recycling solution for these products.

ARM & HAMMER™ toothpaste tubes and ARM & HAMMER™ and OxiClean™ laundry pouches can be recycled through TerraCycle’s specialized processes because ARM & HAMMER™ sponsors the program, making recycling oral care and laundry pod packaging simpler than ever and at no cost to you!

How TerraCycle
recycles the unrecyclable

TerraCycle can recycle complex waste streams that aren’t accepted by local recycling services by creating specialized solutions for recycling hard-to-recycle trash. Their team of in-house scientists develops first-of-their-kind solutions for all kinds of waste. Once your shipment arrives at one of their Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), it’s sorted for recycling using advanced sorting technologies.

Plastics—the most commonly collected material—are shredded, sorted, cleaned, and turned into pellets, flakes, or powder for reuse. Those raw materials are used to make industrial drainage pipes, storage boxes, and plant pots, or used as filler in extruded product applications such as lumber and sheeting. The raw materials are also used to make outdoor furniture, which is often donated to local community organizations.

Better environmental outcomes, proven

Through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of our flexible film recycling process, TerraCycle’s solutions were found to be 45% better for the planet than landfills and incineration.

The LCA of our oral care recycling process found TerraCycle solutions to be 72% better than landfills and 68% better than waste-to-energy/incineration.
