Business Development Associate (Entry Level) – in Monterrey, MX

TerraCycle is the world leader in the collection and recycling of post-consumer waste that is generally considered non-recyclable. We recycle everything from pens, toothbrushes, candy wrappers, to cigarette butts and scores of other waste streams that would otherwise be sent to landfills or incinerated. Headquartered in Trenton, NJ and operating in 21 countries, we are a global pioneer in green business and the largest processor of flexible packaging in the world. Major companies contract with TerraCycle, to provide national recycling programs that are free to the public. These programs collect and recycle used products and packaging in schools, offices and through a wide variety NGO’s and other organizations, and ultimately recycle the waste into new, more durable goods including park benches and playgrounds.  

TerraCycle is seeking a Business Development Associate for our Monterrey, Mexico office who will identify and develop recycling partnerhsips with Consumer Packaged Goods companies for their hard-to-recycle or non-recyclable products and packaging. This is a unique role for a resourceful, driven individual looking for an exceptional opportunity in the sustainability field. The position is based in Monterrey, Mexico working closely with and reporting directly to the Country Lead, Mexico and the VP of Global Sales.

The Business Development Associate will:

  • Research potential brand partners and identify points of contact, typically in marketing and brand management departments
  • Maintain an active pipeline of 150 – 200 potential recycling partnerships in Mexico
  • Reach out to brand targets via cold e-mailing and cold calling
  • Prepare presentations and proposals to support pitching to brand targets, at times in collaboration with the greater Business Development/Program Development teams
  • Present program overview, financial and case study presentations via conference calls and in-person
  • Work with new partners on pricing & finalization of contracts to secure new brand partnerships for TerraCycle
  • Ensure smooth transitions from the Business Development team once the partnership is finalized to the Account Management team


  • Excellent research, writing and communication skills in both English and Spanish (required)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint & Excel
  • Familiarity with CRM software, Highrise preferred
  • An entrepreneurial spirit (ability to work autonomously)
  • 1 - 3 years of sales experience
  • Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry or experience with social enterprise is preferred
  • Demonstration of negotiating and closing business opportunities
