Colgate® Community Garden Challenge 2022

Recycle and vote to give your school a chance to win the ultimate garden kit!

TerraCycle has partnered with Colgate® and Chemist Warehouse to give seven lucky schools the chance to win a community garden kit for their school grounds - including upcycled garden beds, seating and plenty more!

Between 24 February - 31 October, Australian pre-, primary, intermediate, special and secondary schools are invited to join our recycling program for oral care waste and vote for their school to earn Garden Points.

The more units of oral care waste recycled and the more votes per school, the better your chances of winning.

Make sure your school is signed up to the Colgate Community Garden Challenge to recycle and compete in this year's challenge.

1 unit of oral care waste received for recycling = 10 Garden Points

1 online vote = 1 Garden Point

1 Chemist Warehouse bonus vote = 15 Garden points

Head into a participating Chemist Warehouse store and scan the Shelf Garden QR code to earn bonus votes. You can scan once a day!

DIY Collection Station bonus prizes = 500 Garden Points

Each month TerraCycle will award 500 Garden Points to the school with the best DIY Collection Station. Submit one image per school via the below form, and the most eye-catching and creative collection stations will be announced throughout the contest.

How it works

What can you recycle through this program?

Program accepted waste: Toothpaste tubes and caps, manual plastic toothbrushes, electric toothbrush heads, toothbrush plastic packaging, floss containers.

Not accepted: Please recycle your cardboard packaging in your kerbside recycling bin. Electronic toothbrush handles and bases are not recyclable through this program and instead should be collected and shipped separately through the electric toothbrush recycling program, which has specific shipping requirements.

Please do not include:

  • Bamboo toothbrushes

Prizes

There are seven grand prizes to be won, each valued at $4,780!

At the end of the competition, the three schools with the most Garden Points will win a grand prize.

Plus, there are four more grand prizes up for grabs - so every school (large or small!) who sends a shipment for recycling will go in the draw to win.
