Important!
We only accept empty perfume bottles and nail varnish bottles as part of a wider range of empty (plastic) packaging. We cannot accept boxes predominantly filled with perfume bottles and nail varnish bottles. Please do not dispose of broken glass in the box.
How it works
Please choose the size box you'd like to purchase. When you receive your box fill it with the appropriate waste streams. Once full, bring your box to any UPS location or schedule a collection to send your items back to TerraCycle using the pre-paid UPS shipping label which is already affixed to your box. When we receive your box, we'll safely recycle all of the collected materials.
What happens to the waste?
The collected waste is mechanically and/or manually separated into metals, fibres, and plastics. Metals are smelted so they may be recycled. The fibres (such as paper or wood based products) are recycled or composted. The plastics undergo extrusion and pelletisation to be moulded into new recycled plastic products.
Accepted waste
Please send us your shampoo bottles and caps, conditioner bottles and caps, hair gel tubes and caps, non-pressurized hair spray bottles, hair paste plastic jars and caps, lip balm tubes, face soap dispensers and tubes, lotion bottles, lotion tubes, lotion dispensers and jars, non-pressurized shaving foam tubes, lip gloss tubes, mascara tubes, eye liner pencils and cases, eye shadow tubes, concealer tubes and sticks, empty perfume bottles, empty nail varnish bottles and nail polish remover bottles. We accept any plastic, metal and soda-lime glass beauty packaging.
Please do NOT...
Do not send in aerosol cans, plant-based or biodegradable plastics (i.e. PLA), wood or bamboo products, sheet masks for face, hands and feet and any contents of packaging. Please note that we do not accept hazardous waste (sharp, flammable, reactive, corrosive, ignitable, toxic, infectious or pathogenic) which presents a danger to the environment, or to people, batteries, pressurized canisters, broken glass or medical waste. Please send traditional recyclables through your local council system. Important: We do not accept full box shipments weighing more than 20kg.
Best practices for recycling
In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. paint from paint tubes). Additionally, if you choose to rinse your product, please note that it must be completely dry prior to shipping.
