We’ve made getting started with the ASICS NIMBUS MIRAI™ Free Recycling Program easy! Simply download a free shipping label to ship your ASICS NIMBUS MIRAI™ performance running shoes to TerraCycle, and we’ll send them into our “closed-loop” recycling project to incorporate the material for future NIMBUS MIRAI shoes.

Most recycling involves processing an item back into its raw materials, which are then turned into different objects (e.g., plastic packaging being recycled into raw plastic pellets that are used to make plastic shipping pallets or watering cans). Closed-loop recycling involves recycling a product back into itself (e.g., shoes being recycled back into shoes). In closed-loop manufacturing, an end-of-life plan is built into the product design. This reduces waste, encourages recycling, and conserves natural resources because new materials don’t need to be extracted from the Earth to create the next generation of the product. Closed-loop products are an important step in the move to a circular economy.

Discover Our Recycling Process

ASICS NIMBUS MIRAI™ performance running shoes were designed to be recycled. First, the shoes are disassembled to separate the upper shoe from the sole. Next, the soles are mechanically recycled, while the upper shoes are shredded and broken down into a powder through washing, filtration, drying, and milling. The powder is then converted into pellet form, which is melted into fiber yarns. Finally, those fiber yarns are woven back into another pair of ASICS NIMBUS MIRAI™.
