Recycle any brand of flexible plastic cheese packaging and nets
As part of this programme, you can recycle any brand of flexible plastic cheese packaging and nets. You can also recycle the labels from Cathedral City Minis packs of 6. There are 2 ways to do this:
By dropping them off at a public drop-off location
By setting up your own public drop-off location
For more information on how to join this programme, please take a look at the "How It Works" section further down the page.
There are 2 different ways to participate in this programme:
Find your nearest drop-off location on the interactive map above and drop off your waste.
If there are no public drop-off locations near you, you can apply to set up your own. We will be carefully reviewing applications to ensure there is good coverage of accessible public drop-off locations across the UK. As part of this process, public drop-off locations in highly populated areas will be prioritised. But don’t worry, we are also including rural areas in the programme.
Follow the steps below to apply to set up a public drop-off location:

Once you are a member of the programme (by setting up a public drop-off location) and when you are ready to send a parcel, please follow these steps:
Please check out our Accepted Waste Poster below for more details.
Once collected, the plastic waste is shredded, washed and then pelletized. These pellets can be used for a number of moulded rigid plastic products like benches, or used as film for products such as rubbish bags. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.
This programme offers 100 TerraCycle® points for each kilogram of flexible cheese packaging, plastic nets and labels from Cathedral City Mini packs of 6 sent. However, the points will only be awarded if the parcel reaches the minimum weight of 3 kilograms.
For example:
1 kilogram = 0 TerraCycle® points
3 kilograms = 300 TerraCycle® points
5.5 kilograms = 550 TerraCycle® points
Please note that TerraCycle® points are credited to the accounts of public drop-off location administrators only as a reward for their collection efforts. The number of points given is determined by the weight of the parcel. 1 TerraCycle® point is worth 1 penny.
Once credited, the points can be redeemed into financial donations to the charity or school chosen by the owner of the points. The points must be redeemed on the TerraCycle® website.
As the nation’s favourite cheese brand, Cathedral City is committed to reducing its impact on the planet. We’re working hard to achieve our ambition to make our flexible cheese packaging fully recyclable by 2022. In the meantime, we are partnering with TerraCycle® to allow consumers to recycle any flexible plastic cheese packaging from any brand or supermarket, not just Cathedral City. Not only are we helping the environment, but the packaging we recycle will also help raise money for good causes.
