How it works

Local recycling solutions are an easy and efficient way to collect used razors from your community. This program is designed for participants who have (or who plan to have) public drop-off points available and want to spread awareness and traffic to those drop-off locations, thereby increasing the number of pieces of waste you collect and the points you earn.

After acceptance to the program, the address listed in your account will be posted on the publicly available map of local recycling solutions on the Gillette Razor Recycling Program page. If you need to update your drop-off address on the public map, you may do so by contacting TerraCycle Customer Support.

Are there any types of locations that cannot be listed as a local recycling solution?

Businesses (including gyms), colleges, cities, and community organizations are encouraged to sign up as local recycling solutions. Public drop-off points must be accessible by the public in your community.

Individual homes, medical facilities, children’s groups, and schools other than colleges and universities do not qualify as local recycling solutions. If you are unsure if your organization type can be listed as a public drop-off point, you can request to join the program and we will review your account, or you can contact TerraCycle Customer Support to learn more.

What you can recycle

Program accepted waste: All brands of blades and razors (systems and disposable units, and replaceable-blade cartridge units), rigid plastic packaging, and flexible plastic bag packaging.

Best practices for recycling

If you choose to rinse your product, please note that it must be completely dry prior to shipping. You cannot ship dripping packages.

What happens to the waste

Once collected, the waste is broken down and separated by material. Plastics are cleaned and pelletized to be recycled into new products, such as picnic tables and park benches. Metal materials are sent for smelting and conversion to new alloys. Click here to learn more about TerraCycle's recycling process.

TerraCycle points can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts, product bundles, or a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice. To learn more about our points program, click here.
