How it works

Becoming a public drop-off location is an easy and efficient way to collect all brands of blades, razors, and plastic packaging in your community and build the national recycling network.

  1. Request to join the program. If you don’t have a TerraCycle account yet, create one here
  2. Once accepted into the program, set up a recycling station in a highly visible area.
  3. Start collecting all brands of blades and razors in the custom collection bin.
  4. When your collection box is full, pack it up, and download a prepaid shipping label for free from your TerraCycle account to ship via UPS.

Join the program

Businesses (including gyms), schools, colleges, cities, and community organizations are encouraged to sign up as local recycling solutions by clicking the Join Program button at the top of this page. Once you are accepted into the program, your address will be listed on a public map and individuals will be able to drop off their collections with you. Public drop-off points must be accessible to the community.

Individual homes, medical facilities, and children’s groups do not qualify as local recycling solutions. If you are unsure if your organization type can be listed as a public drop-off point, you can request to join the program and we will review your account.

Set up and start collecting

After acceptance to the program, the address listed in your account will be posted on the publicly available map of local recycling solutions on the Gillette Razor Recycling Program page.

Once full, simply seal and return the bin to TerraCycle by downloading a prepaid UPS shipping label from this page and affixing it to your bin.

We want to help you turn your public drop-off point into a successful local recycling solution for your community, so we are here to provide resources and guidance. If you need to update your drop-off address, please contact TerraCycle Customer Support.

What you can recycle

All brands of blades and razors (systems and disposable units, and replaceable-blade cartridge units), rigid plastic packaging, and flexible plastic bag packaging

Best practices for recycling

We encourage you to ship when your box is full of blades, razors, and plastic packaging to minimize the transportation carbon footprint for this program. You don’t need to clean the packaging before sending it to TerraCycle, but please remove as much residue as possible. UPS will not accept dripping packages, so please make sure your items are dry.

What happens to your recyclables

Once collected, the blades, razors, and plastic packaging are cleaned and separated by material. Metals are smelted into ingots for reuse, and plastics are melted down and turned into pellets, flakes, and other usable formats that can be remolded to make new recycled products, such as park benches and picnic tables. Rewards

Shipments in the Gillette® Razor Local Recycling Solutions program must be at least 15 pounds to earn TerraCycle points. For all qualifying shipments, 100 points per pound will be awarded.

Awarded TerraCycle points can be allocated toward a variety of charitable gifts or redeemed as a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice. Each blade, razor, and piece of plastic packaging sent through qualifying shipments will earn approximately 5 TerraCycle points and be counted based on an average unit weight of 0.05 pounds.
