Recycling in partnership with McVitie's®, Carr's® and Go Ahead®
TerraCycle®, McVitie's®, Carr's® and Go Ahead® have partnered to create a free recycling programme for any brand of biscuit, cracker and cake wappers, and a fundraising opportunity for participants.
Participating is completely free and very easy. Review the FAQ for more detailed information
Please check out our Accepted Waste Poster below for more details.
Make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e food residue) and place all biscuit, cracker and cake wappers wrappers in the box. Tape the box together securely ensuring there are no loose edges or corners. Print your label and attach it securely to the shipment.
Once collected, the biscuit, cracker and cake wrappers are cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.
TerraCycle® points are credited to the account of the collector as a reward for their collection efforts. The number of points given is determined by the total weight of the shipment. 1 TerraCycle® point is worth 1 cent.
Once credited, the points can be redeemed into financial donations to the charity or school chosen by the owner of the points. The points must be redeemed on the TerraCycle® website.
Here is the reward this programme offers:
2 kilograms of biscuit, cracker and cake wappers = 0 TerraCycle® points
3 kilograms of biscuit, cracker and cake wappers = 1200 TerraCycle® points
4 kilograms of biscuit, cracker and cake wappers = 1600 TerraCycle® points
Please be aware, the weight of the cardboard box is not taken into account. TerraCycle® recommends public drop-off location administrators to send more than the minimum weight to ensure points are awarded.
