How it works

Becoming a public drop-off location is an easy and efficient way to collect Taco Bell® Sauce Packets in your community and build the national recycling network.

  1. JOIN! Turn your community organization, workplaces, store into a local recycling solution by clicking the Join as a public drop-off button at the top of this page.

Only businesses, groups, and organizations qualify as local recycling solutions for this program and it is not available to individuals or K-12 schools. To make sure you qualify, please sign into your account and click this link to update your TerraCycle profile with your organization type and name, which is what your location will be labeled on the map. Accept the two required consent checkboxes to confirm your ability to be a public location, and provide your operating hours for the convenience of your community.

Once you are accepted into the program, your address will be listed on a public map and individuals will be able to drop off their collections with you. You will be able to ship the waste your location collects to TerraCycle for free and earn TerraCycle points for your shipments.
  2. SET UP! Once confirmed, set up a recycling station in a highly visible area and start collecting Taco Bell® Sauce Packets in any box you have.
  3. COLLECT! Collect Taco Bell® Sauce Packets from community members dropping off for recycling at your location.
  4. SHIP! When your collection box is full, pack it up, and download a free label from your TerraCycle account to ship via UPS.

Best practices for recycling

Make sure your collection bin is easy to find and in a location that’s easily accessible to the public.

We encourage you to ship when your box is full of Taco Bell® Sauce Packets to minimize the transportation carbon footprint for this program. UPS will not accept dripping packages, so please make sure your items are dry.

What happens to your recyclables

Once collected, the sauce packets are cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products, such as park benches and picnic tables. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.

Shipments in the Taco Bell® Sauce Packet Recycling Program can be any weight to earn points, and 100 points per pound will be awarded.

Awarded TerraCycle points can be allocated toward a variety of charitable gifts to organizations like the Taco Bell Foundation or redeemed as a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice. Each sauce packet sent in will earn approximately 1.5 TerraCycle points and will be counted based on an average unit weight of 0.015 pounds.
