  2. Once in the program, start collecting empty Taco Bell® sauce packets in any box you have.

Best practices for recycling

We encourage you to ship when your box is full of Taco Bell® sauce packets to minimize the transportation carbon footprint for this program. You don’t need to clean the packets before sending it to TerraCycle, but please remove as much of the remaining sauce as possible. UPS will not accept dripping packages, so please make sure your items are dry.

What happens to your recyclables

Once collected, the sauce packets are cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products, such as park benches and picnic tables. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.

Shipments in the Taco Bell® Sauce Packet Recycling Program can be any weight to earn points, and 100 points per pound will be awarded.

Awarded TerraCycle points can be allocated toward a variety of charitable gifts to organizations like the Taco Bell Foundation or redeemed as a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice. Each sauce packet sent in will earn approximately 1.5 TerraCycle points and will be counted based on an average unit weight of 0.015 pounds.
