Recycling in partnership with Gerber®

Gerber® believes the baby food industry should help create a world where babies thrive. Now, you can recycle baby food packaging (such as flexible or rigid plastic packaging, shrink labels, plastic containers, plastic lids, and flexible plastic pouches) and fundraise for charity with the national recycling program powered by TerraCycle® and Gerber®.

How it works

Participating in the Gerber Recycling Program is completely free and easy.

What you can recycle in this program

  • Baby food packaging, such as flexible or rigid plastic packaging, shrink labels, plastic containers, plastic lids, and flexible plastic pouches

NOTE: Please do not send in any glass, basic #1 and #2 plastics (such as plastic lids and containers), aluminum or any other municipally recyclable packaging unless you are unable to find local recycling solutions.

Best practices for recycling

  • Please remove shrink labels from plastic containers prior to shipping.
  • Ensure all excess product has been removed (i.e. leftover crumbs, purees, sauces, etc.).
  • If you choose to rinse your product, note it must be completely dry prior to shipping. UPS will not accept dripping packages.

What happens to the waste

Once collected, the waste is broken down and separated by material. Plastics are cleaned and pelletized, and metals are melted down. Click here to learn more about TerraCycle's recycling process.

Rewards

TerraCycle® points can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts or a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice.

Shipments in this program can be any size to earn points, and 100 points per pound will be awarded.
